About Us

Congregation Or Tzion is an egalitarian, multigenerational, participatory, family-friendly community located in North Scottsdale. We are affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism (USCJ) and pride ourselves on offering compelling programming, innovative learning opportunities, and spiritual prayer services for all ages.

The synagogue offers Shabbat services, holiday celebrations, religious school, B’nai Mitzvah training, adult education and programming, Families with Littles Havdalah, and youth groups.

Congregation Or Tzion was formed in May 2014 when the Conservative synagogues Congregation Or Chadash and Har Zion merged. We are a unified entity of more than 400 families (and growing), building upon the strong Conservative Jewish presence both legacy congregations have brought to the valley.

The feelings we share as a congregational family and holy community are summed up in a reading from our Friday night Siddur:

May the door to this synagogue be wide enough to receive all who hunger for love, all who are lonely for fellowship.

May it welcome all who have cares to unburden, thanks to express, hopes to nurture.

May the door of this synagogue be narrow enough to shut out pettiness and pride, envy and enmity.

May its threshold be no stumbling block to young or straying feet.

May it be too high to admit complacency, selfishness, and harshness.

May this synagogue be, for all who enter, the doorway to a richer and more meaningful life.
